2007: Some dimensions in Cube are missing although configured

Adrian Miller

Hi,

on the production system I have configured some project enterprise fields as
dimensions and they show up in the cube. I did the same on the test system.
This is with SP1, here however they do not show up.

Does anybody know what may prevent the dimensions from being shown? Is this
a known bug in SP1? If so, does the Feb 08 Hotfix rollup fix this?

Thanks
Adrian

Hi Adrain,

Have you added the custom fields into your cube build?
You can achieve this by going into the Server Settings > under the Cube
heading click on Configuration.

Within the Configuration screen, make sure that your custom fields are moved
from Available fields into Selected Dimensions.

Re-build the cube and your custom fields should appear as dimensions.
Hope this helps

Hi Marc,

yes, absolutely I added the project custom fields in the Cube Configuration
dialog. Is there any way to troubleshoot this? How does the staging process
for the cube build work? Is there any place for example in the Reporting
database which I can check?

(I'm using Project Server 2007 SP1, SP1 has been applied after the server
was in use for half a year with no known issues in this area)

Thanks,
Adrian

Hi Adrian,

The first thing I would check is if you have any error messages in the event
log or in the Proejct Server queue. Let me know if this is the case.

Surprising that you have the abillity to move the custom fields into the
dimension field, but it then doesnt build. I have not come across this issue
before pre or post SP1.

I can't seem to get the Project properties to show up in my cube. Fields like Start, Finish, % Complete are only available in my views, not the data analysis. How do I get them to show up in data analysis?

Ivan --

You can't. You can only add custom enterprise fields that contain a Lookup
Table to the OLAP cubes used in Data Analysis views. Hope this helps.
