2007 vs 2003 file size

I converted a database to 2007 and the file size went from 21 mb to 2.1 mb.
Does anyone know a reason for this? Most of the posts I've read have said to
not upgrade unless it was needed but if the size change is legit I'm assuming
the database will be a little faster as well?

My guess is that if you Compacted the database in 2003 that it would shrink
similarly. The conversion process includes the equivalent of a compaction
step.

I doubt you'll see much difference.

My experience is that even compacted office files (both Access, Excel and
Word) are significantly smaller when converted to 2007 format. (But a
reduction factor of 10 looks a bit much)
