2008 Collapse/Expand view keyboard shortcuts?

1. Are there keyboard shortcuts for Entourage/View/Collapse All (and Expand
All)?

2. How long should the /Collapse All (either keyboard or pulldown menu
command) stay in effect? Until reversed with Expand All? Or is Expand
supposed to return without any command if you mark all read and leave the
newsgroup?

Respectfully, Norm

Hi Norm!

None are associated with it but you may be able to create your own using
the Apple menu --> System Preferences... --> Keyboard & Mouse -->
Keyboard Shortcuts feature provided by Mac OS X.

Because Entourage has numerous keyboard shortcuts I typically make all
of mine a four-fingered combination of Control + Option + Command +
<some key>. "E" for Expand and "C" for Collapse would probably work
quite well.

Hope this helps!

Thanks very much.

I must be missing something. Both the titles and the four-button commands
for Collapse and Expand now show up in System Preferences/ Keyboard & Mouse
/ Keyboard Shortcuts. What's the next step? (I look in Finder/Help under
keyboard shortcuts but could not find out how to get an Entourage News Group
to recognize Control + Option + Command + C?

Did you specifically assign your keyboard shortcuts to Microsoft
Entourage and not to All Applications in the Keyboard & Mouse preference
pane?

The keyboard commands will only work only with:

View --> Expand All
View --> Collapse All

You'll still need to select the appropriate newsgroup first before
invoking the commands.

Once they're assigned, be sure to restart Entourage. If they are working
correctly then you'll see the new shortcuts appear next to the Expand
All and Collapse All menu commands themselves.

Hope this helps!

I just verified that they are indeed, under Application Keyboard Shortcuts /
Microsoft Entourage
The keyboard commands will only work only with:

View --> Expand All
View --> Collapse All

You'll still need to select the appropriate newsgroup first before
invoking the commands.
I did that and put my cursor in the window of newsgroups threads.
Once they're assigned, be sure to restart Entourage.
I can verify that I did that.

They do *NOT* appear next to the commands in the pulldown menu. It seems I
am missing a vital step after typing the title and then the four shortcut
keys. In System Preferences, the Descriptions correctly appear under
Microsoft and the four-key sequences appear to the right of them in the
Shortcut column.

The missing step must be some way to communicate to Entourage by more than
description and sequence of keys in the shortcuts what process/processes
need to be launched when the the shortcut is typed while in a Newsgroup View
window of threads.

Incidentally, when I press control- option- command - c, rather than
collapsing anything, a post is opened and displays.

Works just fine for me. Be sure you're using the exact menu command name
and keep in mind they are case sensitive.

Interestingly, Control+C seems to be another "Open" command. I wonder why...

Thanks for the tip! My mistake was was in not using the identical names as
appear in the View pulldown menu.
