2008: How search for word in "current item"?

In Office 2004, I recall the option check-box when doing a Command-F to
search within the ³current item² a Task, Note or Message.

1. How is that done in Office 2008?

2. Does the search highlight the keyword/criterion?

Respectfully, Norm

For an individual message, command-F should still work. Open the message in
it¹s own window.

Entourage 2008 now includes a Spotlight search box at the top right. It is
blazingly fast.

Indeed, it is. But how does one search within a Note or Task for a
keyword and get Entourage to highlight?

Do you already have the individual note or task open, or are you searching
within notes and tasks in general? Simple Find does not seem to work in a
Note or Task.

I¹ve never had a note or task large enough I had to search through it for
the word. I just did a Spotlight search for a word and it brought up the
task. Same for a Note, but you have to be in that view for the search to
work.

Can you be more specific about what you are trying to accomplish?

Thanks, Diane. I do have some large Tasks. And I have a goodly number of
large Notes. Once I open one containing a fair amount of text, I¹d like to
be able to do a keyword search within that currently-open item¹s window as I
can do when I type Command-F while in an already-open Word document window.
When I do such a search in a Word document, the keyword or phrase is
highlighted. All I can figure out to do with Entourage is find entire
Tasks or Notes containing un-highlighted keywords.

Notes and Tasks are not what I would call full featured. Just like
Entourage¹s newsreader. It¹s better than nothing along with easy and
convenient.

I would look at some of the other applications that might suit your way of
working. Try Yojimbo from Bare Bones and Eagle Filer from the same author as
Spam Sieve. I like both of these for easy to enter data and their search
features. Both have demos if I remember correctly.

They are quite easy and convenient. To make them even more so, I just sent
a request to Microsoft to add in a future Entourage version the capability
to have Command-F find AND highlight keywords within an already-open Note or
Task.

If anybody else wishes to make such a request, you can go under Entourage¹s
³Help² pulldown menu and click on ³Send Feedback About Entourage.² I¹ve
noticed that the folks in the Microsoft Mac Business Unit incorporate a fair
number of user suggestions.
