Hey all,
I tried to upgrade to SP1 with disastrous results...Entourage fails to
start. It crashes immediately with the following error report:
Dyld Error Message:
Symbol not found: __ZThn624_N11CFileStream8GetBytesEPvRl
Referenced from: /Applications/Microsoft Office 2008/Microsoft
Entourage.app/Contents/MacOS/Microsoft Entourage
Expected in: /Applications/Microsoft Office 2008/Microsoft
Entourage.app/Contents/MacOS/../Frameworks/EntourageCore.framework/Versions/
12/EntourageCore
I knew something was wrong when after SP1 installation it was telling me the
Office database was corrupt so I rebuilt it using the Database Utility. It
rebuilt with no complaints. Entourage still crashed on startup. Ran
Maintenance 3.8 and tried again. No go. Rolled back to 12.0.1 rebuilt the
database, ran Maintenance, then ran SP1. Still no good. Did an archive and
install of the OS and applied the 10.5.2 combo update, ran software update,
ran rebuild database, then ran the SP1 upgrade. Still get the above error.
Running verify database using the database utility at any point during this
process reports that all is well.
Can anyone give me a clue why Entourage SP1 won't run for me or what else I
can do to fix it?
Back to 12.0.1 right now (thank you Time Machine!)
Thanks,
Chris
