2203 Installation error in Vista with office 2007 ultimate, help?

Hi guys,

I downloaded the ultimate 2007 office package and cannot install it. The
process gets so far then it stops with a "2203" permissions error.

Can someone please help me work through fixing this as I can't find an
adequate solution on the internet. Thanks for your help.

Are you installing while logged on as Administrator, AND is UAC disabled?

I'd like to pick up here on the same issue. Office 2007 enterprise Home Use
with Windows Vista 64-bit home premium.

I logged in with Admin account and had UAC disabled (and gave rights to
\windows\temp as suggested by another thread). I get 2203 internal error
then it references c:\windows\Installer\81322c.ipi -2147287035. Mind doesn't
say anything about permissions though.

Typical. After a month of not finding the answer, I posted this, then I get
it working pretty soon after. I can't say for sure what did it, but here's
the threads that eventually got it working for me (still with UAC disabled).

During this, I tried the MSI installer update which failed. In
investigating this I tried various things from a few other threads, like

Of those three threads, I can't say what was the one thing that finally did
it. There was some recommended steps using MSConfig I can't find the url I
saw it at. But I have a feeling that it certainly didn't hurt. What it said
was... Start->Run->MSConfig. In general tab, select Selective startup and
uncheck "Load startup items". In Services tab, check "Hide all Microsoft
services", then click Disable All. In Startup tab click disable all (if it
is not disabled).

Hopefully this aggregates the right steps on this problem that is hard for
people to track down the solution for.
