then right clicking and selecting Open on options list, an error
message pops up:

"The command you selected is not available from this shortcut menu."

Any ideas? Fixable? Mentioned process works OK on my Office 2000
version of Word on a Windows XP Pro machine. Tnx!

A lot of messages were lost in the viruses last week...

it looks like behavior changed between versions or is related to Winxp since
I get a similar error in Word 2003 on winxp2k3: 'can't complete the
operation because a dialog box is open' error when I click ok and close the
file, open dialog, the document opens.

Btw... I'm curious as to why the user is right clicking to open when it's
faster to double click to open.

Thanks for the response. Good question. I don't know the answer.
The user is using double clicking as the work-around. User was just
curious as to why the error message when the option is clearly
offered.

Hi Bob,

This is a known issue. The Print command from the shortcut menu in
File/Open does not work. This has to do with a change in SDI. :-(

If they select the Print option then close the Open dialog box then it
should work. Otherwise they will need to use an Exploring window for
printing files from the shortcut menu.

Please post all follow-up questions to the newsgroup. Requests for
assistance by email can not be acknowledged.
