Hello , please help!!
I have searched for hours on google and i have as yet to find an answer. I
have a number of linked excel files in an access 2000 database.
If a user on the network has one of these excel files open in excel , that i
link to. It is not possible to open them in access instead it comes up with
3051 The Microsoft Jet database engine cannot open the file <name>. It is
already opened exlusively by another user, or you need permission to view
its data.
Why does it matter if another user has the file open that is a linked table
in access. I do not want the users to update the linked tables , all this
program is for is the ability to search numrous excel files on the network.
The quickest way of doing this is to link them in access and search from
there.
The folder where the spreadsheets that i link to and the folder where the
database sits has full control for all users. the database is shared.
Someone please help!!!!!!!!!!!!
