3259 error - mail not sending

Version: 2008 Processor: Intel Email Client: pop Like many others in the forum, I have also had issues with sending e-mails from Entourage when I am not using my home ISP.

The first advice that my ISP gave me was to enable authentication and to disable SPA. This worked the first time I was travelling.

But I the same problem again last week when travelling and the fix didn't work anymore. This time their advice was to remove my accounts from within Entourage, close down, start-up and then re-add the accounts. This did not solve the problem. (I didn't delete the Keychain though, which I see in some forum answers - could that have been why?)

Seeing as it's an Entourage problem, my ISP help team can't help me further than this.

The Entourage Help Blog twitter team suggested making Global Catalog servers available for LDAP lookups (and it's one of the answers posted on the forum as well). But I can't find any info on WHERE & HOW I do that!

Can you help me please?

There are a lot of -3259 threads, but none seem to have the definitive answer.

Hope you'll talk to those working on the next Entourage update for a fix!!!

With an authentication issue, deleting the accounts & recreating will
have no effect at all.

What you need to do is turn on authentication in the account settings.
Entourage supports all the main 'standards' in this area. What it does
not asupport is 'receive before sending' methods of supposed
authentication (thids does not allow you to send mail until after you
have checked mail on that account - it is not true authentication and
to detail why it is worse than useless would take longer than an email
to explain!).

If you open the account settings, and check the relevant coxes for
authentication (most servers use 'same as receiving server').

If this does not work, the server must be using some weird and
unothrodox system of verification, which would give problems for most
mail clients, not just Entourage.
