350 MB .pst file, but it's empty. Can I recover???

I tried to "open" an existing .pst file, but instead I mistakenly "added" an
outlook data file by the same name in the same location. The file size
didn't change, but if I now open the file, it is completely empty. I've
tried scanpst.exe and it just tells me that there are 18 folders and 0 items.
This is very important, can I recover the data?? I'm running Office XP.
