3rd party users from other domain

hi guys,

we were able to establish the PWA and ProjectServer 2003 using mix-mode
authentication (ActiveDirectory auth for regular users and ProjectServer auth
for dummy/test users). Now we have a 3rd party users, meaning user's that are
not regular employee of the company. Their role on the project was Team
Members and Team Leaders. Due to security reasons, they are not allowed to
have AD accounts. If we will give them Project Auth accounts, there are some
limitations particulary on the viewing via PWA. One option that we have is to
create another domain and we will have a one-way trust (our domain will trust
the new domain). We dont know if this is possible, were still testing it. Do
you know any other options? if this possible, will i be able to add the new
user's on the Enterprise resource pool, and get the user's from the
directory?

Hope you can help us and give us some guide regarding this matter..thanx!!

Hi Ray!

actually, that was our first option before..but since there using
ProjectServer auth has some limitations (collaboration, the use of Issues,
risk and Documents) and since the user's needs to update and view the
collaboration part, we excluded this option. Our network guys suggested to
use a seperate domain, but we havent tested and tried that option, that why
im asking if you guys did this before or you have other solution. Many thanks
for the reply Ray.

hope that some will post their suggestion...thanx!!

You could have licensing issues as well as technical ones. You may need to
use Microsoft's External Connector. Contact your account manager at
Microsoft or your licensed reseller.

I'm confused. If you add a local Windows account to the Project Server, you
could use Windows authentication, couldn't you?

Hi Reid,
How come that the issue is the licensing? we already secured the license
(50CALs) and our user's (including our team) are less than 30. Can you please
elaborate..

Thanks!

Just like what ive said, were using our Active Directory to authenticate the
users.. even if they will access PWA on other PC's. it will prompt for the AD
account. If they will use MS Project, they will connect to our Terminal
Server, still the authentication is the user's AD account
