We have a very confusing problem.
A 450k excel file needs very long time to open from a
netwok share via 2Mbit WAN link. Excel comes up quick, the
file seems to be loaded but Excel still hangs about 5-6
minutes until the user is able to edit, even see the file.
As far as I know it's only this file, others are opened
normally, even bigger files. Server is win2003.
- tested Excel XP and 2003, various patchlevels, but all
on WinXP.
- no problems via 100Mbit LAN or from local disk.
- disabling AV changes nothing
- en-/disabling opportunistic locking changes nothing
- changing macrosecurity does nothing
- no error messages on client or server
- full rights on NTFS and share are provided
Opening the file read-only brings it up within seconds
under all conditions.
Any help would be nice - I'm more network than office pro
and out of ideas.
