4th and 5th mouse buttons in MS Office 2003 overriden

I have the following bad experience with MS Office 2003 and my
programable mouse buttons.

Recently I both Logitech Mx518 optical mouse.
I use to program my 4th and 5th buttons as "copy" and "paste". Usually
they are "Back" and "forth".

So my "copy" and "paste" works perfectly everywhere, except in MS Word
2003, MS Excel 2003 and MS Outlook 2003. They behave differently in
those apps - doesn't matther how I configure them. For example in
MSExcel 2003 these buttons move active sheets back and forth
In MSAccess 2000 the buttons are good - as I program them.

The very strange thing is, that with my old MS Optical Explorer 3.0
mouse the buttons were good with Office 2003.

I don't know who to blame - Microsoft or Logitech. And I don't know how
to fix that.

Any help available around here?

Regards,
Yakimo

Bob,
I changed the mouse - it was Microsoft Intelimouse explorer 3.0
Now it is Logitech Mx518 optical mouse.

I don't like the idea to go back to the old mouse - I threw it away
because it got broken

Any other ideas?

Regards
Yakimo

take it back to store and get one that works the way you want? If the
drivers aren't providing the output that office can "see", you get the
behavior you observe.
