5.5.4 Unknown RCPT TO parameter

When I tried to send an email to a certain address with a .us domain I got the following error message: 5.5.4 Unknown RCPT TO parameter ">".

Does anyone know what that means or where to look for an answer? Does it have something to do with the .us domain?

This sounds like you're sending to a malformed E-mail address.

A common method for displaying a name along with the E-mail address is:

William Smith <[email protected]>

From the description of your problem I'm thinking you may be trying to
send something like the following (missing "<" bracket):

William Smith (e-mail address removed)> or
(e-mail address removed)>
