Hi,
I have an exchange 2003 server on w2003. I have Exchange running fine.
Outlook works fine and so does owa (locally generated cert).
I have now been asked to set up pop3. I found the instructions and off I
went. Pop3 works fine from PCs remotely in that receiving mails is fine.
Sending mails is fine too if to the local domain, however e-mails to outside
are rejected as
550 5.7.1 Unable to relay for (e-mail address removed)
(domainx substituted for real domain in this call for privacy).
I have poked around the smtp virtual server bit and that's fine I think.
From all the threads I can find, it seems that I have to authenticate to send
outside the local domain. That's fine, it's just that I can't get Outlook to
do this. I have ticked every box in every order I can think of, but I can't
get this right. This can't be rocket science, there must be a way but it's
beyond me to get this right. I am reluctant to play too much with certs as I
don't want my normal/owa e-mail to fail while trying things for this.
Any help grafefully received.
My suspicion is that I need to change the server smtp settings for
authentication, but I don't know what I'm doing, just guessing, and I don't
want to break anything that's working.
