This is still driving me nuts. I thought I had set everything properly to
avoid the System Administrator 553 Relaying Denied thing to not happen..but
it still does.

If I try to reply to an email I recieved, and if a message happens to sneak
into my server while I am replying (after checking email a second ago to
thwart the relaying issue)...bam, 553 Relaying Denied message and I have to
then forward the replay or redo it. (PS...why isn't there a RE-Send if
failed option anyway?)

What should I re-check to stop this behaviour?

pretty please...i really hate this feature.

thanks,

Rob

A couple of reasons why you get the Relaying denied error,
Your not authenticating against the SMTP server - this setting is in the
Properties of the email account on the Outgoing Server Tab.

Your trying to send an email across a connection where the email address you
are sending from hasn't or isn't part of that hosting environment, i.e. your
on a BT connection and you are trying to send from a email account that is
hosted by Demon Internet.

Thanks for replying... responses inline:

All my email accounts are set:
Outgoing SMTP requires authentication (yes - checked)
&
Login to Incoming mail before.... (yes - checked).

This is possible although I dunno exactly what you are saying.

I use Qwest as my ISP (and have one email acct there) and in combination
with my webserver's email accounts (not the same domain).
Is that what you mean?
How can I fix this...or can it be fixed. It makes me nuts.

Thanks.
R.

When you send against the Qwest account how are you connected to the
internet is it via a Qwest connection. You may have to post the full error
message or if you can tell us who the or where the system administrator
bounce is coming from. If it is coming from Qwest then either your
configuration is incorrect or Qwest has a problem.

Connected via VDSL full time LAN to Qwest.

I "think" its an internal to my machine message maybe?...there's no info in
email header...actually I can't find a header and the warning is
immediate..the second I hit send I get the warning in the inbox. I don't get
the full email back just the the warning.

Thanks,

Rob

| But the NDR usually is issued by a mail server and while it may not give
any
| info in the header does it give any info in the body of the message, what
we
| are looking for is an IP address or a server name. Also here is a good
| article for troubleshooting this type of error
