60 day free trial

I recently installed Microsoft Office for students on a brand new machine.
The software was purchased at the same site as the computer. Before I
installed the purchased software, I deleted the 60 day free trial by using
the delete programs software in the control panel window. I then installed
the CD version and placed icons for Word and Excel on the desktop. After I
reboot the 60 day trial comes back and my icons are missing. I reinstalled
and the same thing happens. What to do?

You will need ti reinstall the free trial (if possible) and then uninstall,
not delete it.
If all else fails--

The problem is that there are a bazillion registry entries that are
involved, and a very few are involved with the trial vs. full version. If
the trial entries are not removed, then office thinks it's a trial version
when it runs. You can even get to an intermediate point with manual removal,
where there is no 60 day time out, but some of the office apps have a header
saying not for commercial use. (This may be there with the student version
as well) The HP laptop I bought last fall came with trial student teacher
and I went to quite a bit of effort to try the various ways of installing
Office full before I finally got the bugs out. I should have uninstalled
trial S/T first.
