I downloaded the free trial 60 days ago, and selected to uninstall my current
word program so as to save space. now the time is up, so I uninstalled the
trial version, and began to install the old 2000 word version. it went
through the whole process smoothly, and said the program was installed. I
restarted the computer and went to download a document from e-mail. When I
did this, it told me that word did not exist on the computer. Thinking maybe
the file was corrupt, I tried to open one of my existing files that I had
created a year ago on the 2000 version. Again, it told me the program to open
this file did not exist. I also noticed there was not an icon in the start
menu or on the desktop. Befuddled, I went to the search option and typed in
word. It did not bring up any word program files. I reinstalled it, through
the CD, but I had the same result. Then I uninstalled it through the
installation CD(because this detected Word on the computer) and installed it
again-still nothing. I am running Windows 2k on a Dell Latitude. Is this a
common problem? How can I go about fixing it?
