windows 98 service packs. what the hell is that?

SP2 is a free download from http://windowsupdate.microsoft.com . If you
have never updated your Windows XP, then you'll be offered dozens of
updates when you visit the WindowsUpdate website. Clicking on
Express will automatically install all of the more important updates
(which may take a long time if you access the internet through a dial-up
connection). Clicking on Custom will let you pick and choose which
updates you want to install (but you may not be qualified to decide).

Installing the trial version of Office 2007 may not be a good option for
you. The trial software will expire after a few weeks, after which you
need to either purchase a full or upgrade version of Office 2007, or go
back to your previous version of Office. Office 2007 has a new user
interface that may take a while for you to learn. Most Office 2007
files have a different native file format than Office 97-2003 versions,
although it is generally possible to explicitly "save as" to the
previous file format to maintain compatibility.

My condolences to your damn employer.

Because 8 or 9 weeks is a few?
