64-bit processing

I'm considering upgrading to a Mac G5 and eventually Panther. Will
Word X be able to work with this seamlessly?

Yep. There is nothing too 64-bit about Panther. A few things in the
land of Photoshop will have 64bit support. Don't expect Office X to
have 64-bit only features anytime before hell freezes over.

It looks like a fine piece of future-proof hardware. Buy two and send
one to me.

Panther and G5 appear to be excellently backward compatible with older
Motorola hardware and antediluvian 32-bit OSeroonies, so you will not
have a care in the world. - unless you want to run SoftPC

Hmm. There is evidence of too much Chablis in that reply. Wait till
some lucky sod with Office running happily on a G5 responds.

rrrrrr I'm jealous.

So far my Office X seems to be running seamlessly on my G5 under Panther.
