64 bit Vista and Project 2003 and 2007 (Professional)

First I just wanted to know if Project 2003 or 2007 are supposed to run on 64
bit Vista Ultimate?

Second I have loaded both on Vista Ultimate 64 Bit and they do run. However,
in split screen if I click any dropdown box arrow in the lower pane (like to
pick a Resource) it crashes. It does it everytime, and it does it in both
2003 and 2007. Any ideas? They work fine on my XP 32 bit system.

I have the same config you do on one machine -- Vista Ultimatex64.
I have not had this problem. The 32 bit programs are stored in
c:\Program Files (x86)
64 bit programs are stored in
c:\Program Files.

So, make sure you are installed to the correct directory. Install 2003
first, install all service packs, etc. Then, install 2007. Mine works fine.

If it will not let you install to the (x86) directory then try c:\progra~2

Sdesomer,

The symptom you describe where clicking a dropdown causes Project to crash
is something we've seen with both Project 2003 and 2007 on Vista 32 and
64-bit versions. We've tracked down an incompatibility with the HP
Fingerprint Credential Manager software. If you have this software
installed, you can disable it. We're looking into this problem and
hopefully will solve it in the near future.
