64 bit Vista Ultimate with 4 Gb

It would seem that Access 2007 is actually slower on a Duo core laptop with
the subject configuration, than 32bit Vista Ultimate. Has anyone seen this
and found a work around or solution? Case inpoint: I work with a team that
uses Access 2007 on both 32 bit Vista and 64 bit Vista. On a given 32 bit
system with 2 gig of RAM an analysis report takes about 6 minutes to
complete. On my 64bit machine the same report takes over 15 minutes to
complete. I highly suspect that the issue is the amount of THUNKING taking
place in Access and the OS which really tells me that Access may not be a
64 bit app.

Aside from the tuning mentioned in the documentation, which I have done, is
there a resonable way to get a more reasonable responce from a 64bit OS and
laptop?

Reports often take a long time to run because they are Sorting,
or getting data from Disk, or Rendering. Or because you are
running Anti-Virus software. Can you work out which process
is slow?

Access is not a 64 bit app.. unless you use Access Data Projects
(which definitely support 64 bits on the backend)

I'd reccomend moving to SQL Server, Jet is slow and retarded.. it has
been obsolete for a decade
