7 day/24hr tasks in a 5 day work week calendar

I have a project that includes tasks that run around the clock for 8 days. I
would like to schedule on a 5 day standard calendar while including these
tasks.

For example, I have a worker preparing samples during their normal work time
and then the samples get placed into an oven for 8 days (24 hrs per day)
without being removed. The oven shuts off automatically when the 8 days are
complete. The parts are removed on the next normal work day.

How can I do this in Project 2007?

If I'm understanding you correctly, the people are working working
"normal" work time (8 hours per day), but you have samples which are
"working" 24 hours/day over 8 days? Have you looked at the concept in
Project of "elapsed days". Just model the tasks done by the people with
normal calendars, but then put in a task called "Sample in Oven" that is
"fixed Duration" of 8 "edays". Following completion of that "task",
then people do their prescribed tasks with that sample. Do the trick?

I was going to point you to the article in Help about Elapsed duration
but I could not find it in my Project 2007 setup?!

I did find it via Google at
