90% of my toolbar commands are grayed out???

Whenever I click into a cell, my toolbar commands gray out. This did not
happen yesterday. I am using Office 2007. The workbook is not shared and it
is not protected. I can not format anything unless I am out of the cell and
just highlight it, then the toolbar options come back, so please do not tell
me to press esc ,because that just takes me out the cell and does not solve
the problem. Thank you.

I think you are mis-remembering, 2007 menus are context sensitive. While
in the cell most commands are not applicable. What exactly IS the problem?

Hi,

Many, if not most of the toolbar (and menu options) will not be accessible
when you are in Edit mode (you are "in" the cell). This is standard and has
always been the case.
