97-02 error: Missing reference?

D

Dennis

I converted a database from 97 to 2002. When I start up the database from my
PC, all is well. But when the end-user starts it up from *their* PC, they get
the following error:

Your "xxxxxxx" database or project contains a missing or broken reference to
the file "OWC10.DLL" version 1.1.

I checked to make sure the DLL was present on her PC, and that her userID
had access rights. This is a newly rolled-out PC with Win2KPro and Office XP.
When I pull up the "references" menu option, I see the following checkbox is
checked:

MISSING: Microsoft Office XP Web Components

I've looked all over TechNet and can't find a solution. Any assistance on
this would be really appreciated.

Thanks!

Is it the same version of OWC10.DLL on both machines, and is it in the same
location?

Also, it's possible that even if it's present on her PC, it hasn't been
registered.

Hello Dennis,

If the file is present on the end-user's PC, make a note of the
location. Follow these steps:

1. Open the database
2. Click on Modules
3. Open any module in Design View
4. Click Tools, References
5. Browse to the location of the file and this will bring the library
into the database.

Hope this helps. If you have any other conversion questions, feel
free to contact me at the email below.

Sincerely,
Paul Mendrala
