Hi Macropod,
Appreciate your response.
I have not changed my system, the previously installed printer, OS (XP SP3)
and original Office 97 software. I can't open old 97 docs or print them
without seeing a format change since downloading Office Pro 2007, even when I
open them in the originally installed 97 version software.
I'm guessing there may be a conflict between 97 and the trial 2007 installed
simultaneously on my system. I can open 97 manually, then the file to open
the doc, or open the file directly, in which case it boots in 2007
automatically. Either way, I get a reformatted result.
Microsoft on-line support advised that they no longer support 97 and could
offer no assistance.
I'm stymied, and apparently headed for a lot of manual labor reformatting my
old docs.
Thanks,

Hi Stringpuller,
The layout can change because of any combination of the following:
.. the font in which the document was created isn't present on the new system,
.. the printer on the new system isn't the same as on the old system
.. the printer on the new system is the same but the print driver isn't the same as on the old system

I recently downloaded Office Professional 2007 Trial version.
The formatting has changed on all of my documents created in Office 97, even
when I open them with 97. Two page docs have become three page and the fonts
appear larger on a printed document even though the size has not changed.
How do I restore my original 97 document formatting?
