97 file not valid

HELP!!!!

My file, which I have been working on for 4 months, will
not open and gives a warning, "Invite List.xls: file
format not valid". Is there any way to access it?

If you want, I can take a look at it. (e-mail address removed). Later versions of
Excel are more tolerant of files. So I might be able to open it and resave
it, and then send it back.
