97 to 2003 conversion - Workgroup file not working

I have converted a 97 mdb to 2003 that uses access
security. Everthing I've read states that the mdw file
can still be used in 2003. When I join the MDW and open
the database I get a Runtime Error '3112' no permission
to MsysAccounts. I can open the security/user and group
accounts and no users are listed. If I try to add one of
the uses it says the user already exists.

Any ideas?

Bad news I'm afraid. It's an unfixed bug resulting from a system.mdw
ORIGINALLY being converted from an Access2.0 system.mda. The bug manifests
from Access2000 onwards (A97 ran fine).

Your options seem to be:
a) Create a new same system.mdw if you know all the Users/PID's/WID's.
b) Desecure your database, (convert it), and set up all the security anew,
from scratch.

Whilst a lot of system.mdw inter-version usage does work, the Security FAQ
actually warns against converting mdw files, though only as a general warning.

I know what you want to tell me about these suggestions. But I didn't write
MS-Access ;-)
