A couple OneNote Questions

A

Amos Soma

1) Is there anyway I can change where OneNote stores its data? I would like
to store the data to a folder that I regularly backup.

2) Can I create additional OneNote Notebooks? I don't see anyway to do this.
I would like to have one notebook for work related notes and a separate
notebook for other things.

I am using SP1.

Thanks.

You can change the location of the main "My Notebook" folder by going to
Tools | Options | Open and Save. If you're on a network, redirecting
that to a location that is regularly backed up is a good idea. Of
course, if you ever work off of the network, the files won't be available
to you. You can also have OneNote make regular backups (using the
options in Tools | Options | Backup). A previous backup can be restored
by going to File | Open Backup.

OneNote is designed to work with a single "My Notebook" folder, but you
can link to other *.ONE files stored in anotehr location. But why do
that? You can use OneNote's built-in organization features (folders,
sections, pages/subpages) to separate out different types of notes. For
example, on my Tablet PC, I have notes for my day job, personal life,
side businesses, Master's Degree work, etc. all in one hierarchy. Get
used to the organization features and you won't need to keep things in
separate "Notebooks".

Erik,

You bring up a good point about using the organization features of OneNote.
I didn't realize that by using Folders, I can essentially mimic multiple
notebooks by treating each folder as its own notebook. The more I use this
program, the more I like it.
