A dialogue box in Word talks about not being able to create links

When I open a file, a dialogue box appears : MICROSOFT WORD in which the
statement appears : "It will not be possible to create links from other
documents to this document (followed by the file name)". I dont understand
the significance of the message, nor do I understand why it appears.
