A function that determines the color of a cell?

Hello:

From what I can see the the "cell" function does not do this. Is there
anything else that I can use to determine the color of a cell and show
it elsewhere as a alphanumeric code?

You could use Chip Pearson's VBA user defined function
CellColorIndex() from

http://www.cpearson.com/excel/colors.htm

Note that reformatting a cell does not trigger a recalculation, so you
would have to manually recalculate after changing a cell's color.
