Hi to all,
I'm writing to get an help. I'm not really an expert on Access. My
father has a website based on a ms access 2000. In this database he
would like to use a form to insert datas.
The problem is on combo box. Every data is associated to a person with
person details (there are 5000 people in the db). The problem is that
when I use a combo box to search through 5000 records it's very
complicated and takes a lot of time. The first problem is to find a
better way to do that.
What I'm looking for is some kind of autocomplete (like the ajax ones
many website are beginning to use). He starts to write first name or
last name and some kind of select appear suggesting names that fit in
that search. I think this would make inserting easier for him. The
problem is ... how would I do that in ms access 2000? Is the 2000 a
limit? Is there a similar funcionality in more modern access?
Otherwise how should I do that?
The second problem is: if I don't find the name in the combo box, I
would like to have a command that open another form with details on
person, letting me to add a new record and, clicking to some button,
adding this newly inserted record in the previous form without having
to close and reopen form or other annoying procedure.
Is there a way to do that? How?
I really hope you can help me.
Thanks a lot!!
