A little help

Craig

Hi

I just switched over from a PC. When I used Word there, if I wanted to
copy tables and .jpgs, I could just copy and paste them into my
document no problem. With the Mac version, I seem to be having some
difficulty. Is there a setting I can change or something?

Thanks

Welcome to the group, Craig, but in order to offer any meaningful
suggestions you'll have to provide more meaningful *details* - what exactly
does "difficulty" mean? Is the mouse heavier & won't move?:)

Please be specific about what you're doing and what does/does not happen &
include a) What type of Mac configuration, b) Complete version of OS X, c)
Complete version of MS Office.

You have probably got tangled in some Windows-ish way of doing it.
For jpgs, you should be able to copy from most graphics applications
and paste into Word. I just confirmed this by opening a jpg in
GraphicConverter (I recommend you get this if it did not come bundled
with your new machine, it is quite simply the best bit of shareware on
the planet if you ever need to mess with graphic formats), selecting
all, then hitting cmd-C to copy and then, with Word as the active
application, a cmd-V plopped it into my open document.

As an alternative, try dragging the finder's icon or list entry of the
jpg straight onto your Word document. Mac's drag and drop is rather
neat.

Tables might be trickier, depending on which application created the
table. Excel is fine. You might get unexpected results from other
applications.
