A macro

Is there a macro that can strip alll characters between
two given characters -- like "hello [strip this] world"
and put both results into new fields??

Andy,

This is not a job for a Macro. It is a job for an Update Query.

As for specifics, I am afraid I do not fully understand your example.
Maybe some more examples would help to explain how Access is supposed to
know what to strip.
