a new VLOOKUP ?

hello, any help with this one?? lets say i have a
workbook for a large job. one sheet is the master plant
list with column headings; Description, Actual cost, bid
cost. Rows 2:64.
subsequent sheets will be assigned to each jobsite
consisting of any of or all of the plants and info
listed on the master sheet. Instead of copying and
pasting all day long. How do i get the excel to do a
repeated name lists instead of typing all day when its
actually from another sheet.?
is there a look up function with conditions or "match or
any combo that will allow me to just type the first few
letters in the first cell of that new sheet... to pull up
the matching first few letters of the plant name and then
to fill in the values in the next column?? I guess like
for a plant name #1 to look thru the lists in that range
and find the matching name and then input the value in
the next column over?

make any sense?

Vlookup will do this, if the plant names are in alphabetical order.
