a problem of listnum

SYMPTOMS:
When listnum is used for both equation and headings, and
if the equation is placed in a paragraph withou a
subheading, then the numbering of the following subheading
will be wrong.

---------------------------------------------------
Example:

Chapter 3 {LISTNUM Chapter \l 1 \s 3} /heading 1/
balabala...
x = 1 (3-1) {LISTNUM Chapter l\9}
3.2 Monday {LISTNUM Chapter l\2} /heading 2/
/but should appear 3.1 here/
balabala...

---------------------------------------------------
no problem in this example:

Chapter 3 {LISTNUM Chapter \l 1 \s 3} /heading 1/
balabala...
3.1 Monday {LISTNUM Chapter l\2} /heading 2/
x = 1 (3-1) {LISTNUM Chapter l\9}
balabala...

Hi Ma

I think the problem is that Word fills in the 'gaps' in heading levels. When
you use level 9 for the equation number, without a previous level 2, Word
numbers as if the intervening levels have been used.

This achieves a sort of logic in ordinary heading numbering:

3
3.1.1 (level 2, missing level 2, 3.1 interpolated)

but makes the use multiple sequences sharing higher levels very difficult.
The standard solution would be to use captions that reference the chapter
number (achieved using a STYLEREF field and a SEQ field, IIRC), and I
haven't anything else to offer, but Bruce (the LISTNUM king) and Shauna may
have better advice.

Thanks a lot.

If there is no kind of this problem, I personally think
the Listnum is the best and simplest choice for headings
and equations/figures/table numbering.

Any suggestion is welcome.
