a question about color

Hi, I am confused about colors! I selected a grey
background for my work sheet (color 10079487). If I copy
the worksheet into a new book, it becomes orange. The
color value is the same. What is going on? Why does this
happen? (I actually like the orange better)

Your source workbook has had it's color palette customized (using
Tools/Options/Color).

XL can only display 56 colors at a time, when you enter 10079487 as
the color, it finds the "closest" match in the palette and applies
that.

On my machine with the default color palette, 10079487 corresponds
exactly to color #40 (and is orange-ish). In your source book, that
color apparently has been customized and the next "closest" color is
grey.
