A SAVE AS Problem

J

Jim Corveddu

Greetings & Felicitations!

My Word 2001 inexplicably now shows 'Open As Web Page' and 'Save As Web
Page' as the default in the File Menu. I went into Preferences and under the
Save Tab the 'Save Word Files as...' was already/still set to 'Word
Document.'
I've tried selecting something else and then resetting it to 'Word
Document,' but that hasn't helped.
Nor has deleting as many of the Word preferences as I could find.

I can't get the default to go back to 'Open As' and 'Save As' --> Word 2001
Document.

Please, does anyone have any ideas?

Hi Jim,

If it's a preference problem, the correct file to delete is System folder>
Preferences> Microsoft> Word Settings (9). There are a couple of other
possibilities as well.

Go to Tools> Customize and be sure Menu Bar is selected. Now hit Reset.

If that doesn't do it try testing/renaming your Normal template.

Beth, Greetings & Felicitations!

Thanks! The Tools-->Customize Menu Bar reset did the trick.

One has to wonder how it happened in the first place as I had never been
in Tools-->Customize before.
