A search box in the Ribbon for finding commands.

The Ribbon is great. But a search box would fill the gaps between "HELP" and
the UI, and extend Vista's promise of ubiquitous search.

Vista & Windows 7 promote system wide search as the fastest and best way to
locate files and program shortcuts. Why not provide this same speed and
convenience with an intuitive search tool within the ribbon?

Imagine a very small search box in the "home" tab that expands when active.
If I type "header", for example, the ribbon will update to show me the most
relevant "header" commands and even highlight them.

Fast & Intuitive. Make ctrl+L bring focus to the search box and you've
delighted keyboard ninjas.

Thanks JoAnn,

However, what I am suggesting is that the 3-5 steps it usually takes me to
get from help to the command ( or even clicking through the tabs & submenus)
would be cut down to 1 step if the search box was part of the Ribbon, and
commands automatically focused / highlighted as I type.

No serious problem to resolve here, just a suggestion.

What I would suggest is, for starters, visiting the following site:
http://office.microsoft.com/en-us/word/HA100744321033.aspx?pid=CH100487431033
http://office.microsoft.com/en-us/help/HA101491511033.aspx

Those two sites should be able to help you get thru the more common tasks.
