A shared border has changed

Norman

Hello,

I've used FrontPage to create and maintain a website for the past 6 years
(currently using 2002). Last night when making some changes to a page and
uploading the result, the positioning of left vertical shared border changed!
I did nothing to the shared border (I didn't even add a new page, which would
have been reflected as a new entry in the border). I have *no* idea what
happened, nor how I can change things back.

If you would be kind enough to go to: http://www.hisnibs.com, you'll see the
gold navigation bar on the left of the page. You'll see that it's lined up
vertically with the matching horizontal graphic that runs in a shared border
along the top of the page. Now, click on any of the links running down the
left side, and when you get to the new page you'll see that the whole bar has
shifted to the right.

Help!

Your home page does not use a left shared border
Your other pages use a left shared border
(http://www.hisnibs.com/_borders/left.htm)
Whose width is driven by the wide of that page layout
- remove the indent (<blockquote>) and the huge paypal image

Stephan made great suggestions. I'd add one more itsy-bitsy
suggestion.
Where your "We ship via insured Priority Mail (email for cost): text
is,
why not make that a (e-mail address removed) link such as your
"(e-mail address removed)" so that your customers can more easily reach
you? BTW, I'm surprised upon reading your website in detail that
PA resident must pay an extra 6% on all orders placed in state. I
thought all Internet orders were tax free. In Georgia, I've never paid
sales taxes on Net orders.

Thomas A. Rowe

PA treats internet sales for PA resident as a local sale, if the eBusiness is located within the
State of PA, and most other states do so also.

Stefan,

Thank you for your reply.

Here's the HTML for a typical page on the website. Can you direct me as to
how to make the change you suggest please?

<html>

<head>
<meta http-equiv="Content-Type" content="text/html; charset=windows-1252">
<title>$10 or less</title>
<meta name="GENERATOR" content="Microsoft FrontPage 5.0">
<meta name="ProgId" content="FrontPage.Editor.Document">
<script language="JavaScript" fptype="dynamicanimation">
<!--
function dynAnimation() {}
function clickSwapImg() {}
//-->
</script>
<script language="JavaScript1.2" fptype="dynamicanimation" src="animate.js">
</script>
<meta name="Microsoft Theme" content="ts-arain 111, default">
<meta name="Microsoft Border" content="tbl, default">
</head>

<body onload="dynAnimation()">
<p> </p>
<p> </p>
<p align="center"><font face="Comic Sans MS"><font color="#800080"><b><a
href="'90'_series.htm">'90'
SERIES</a></b></font> <font color="#800080"><b><a

color="#800080"><b><a href="'367'_series.htm">'367'
SERIES</a></b></font> </font></p>

</body>

</html>

Also, the PayPal graphic has been there for 'years', as has everything else
in the shared border space (other than today's date of course). I don't know
why this shift suddenly occured, or why I would need to change the PayPal
logo now.

Thanks again for your help.

Hi Uncle Joe,

Thanks for your suggestion about the email. It's a good one. Thomas, who
answered your tax question below, is correct. Actually, as buyers on the
Internet, we are *all* supposed to send in sales tax to our state taxing
agencies, but of course that's not yet effectively enforced. In addition, a
number of states are now pushing very hard to have Internet-only businesses
collect sales tax if they have a *virtual* presence in their state as well.

Your problem is not in your pages but in your left shared border page used by your pages
Tools Site Settings Advanced - Show hidden folders to see the _borders folder and the left.htm
- remove the indents (all blockquote tags)

Hi Stefan,

My apologies for the delay in trying your fix and getting back to you. It
worked! Thanks so much for the instructions. I have *no* idea how the
blockquote tag got in there :).
