A shot in the dark

We are using Excel's sibling MSWorks
and have a curious problem.
In a Database cell, we can add lines to the cell
in "Report View" by employing an "End Of Line" character.
(In Excel it's the same with ALT/Enter)

In MSWorks "list view" the EOL character appears as a square box.

What we need to know is there anyway of removing
this EOL character (the square box) "en-masse"
Seems a singular physical delete is the only option.

We have tried the "replace" option, no good

Our resident MVP is away at the mo, so thought I'd chance a request here.

Anybody?

What did you try for the "replace" option that did not work?

In Excel you would Edit>Replace

What: ALT + 0010 (on NumPad)

With: nothing

Replace all.

I read sometime ago in a magazine what I think was the answer to this
question.
I wish I had written it down at the time
The reason I want this is I import the data for the field from Eudora,
Its the output of a form on my website, and regularly people put and
"End of Line" character in the form by pressing enter.
The EoL then poses a problem in my database and I have to remove them.
I would like to search and replace if I could rather than doing it all
one by one.

I can only speak for Excel, not MS Works.

Since you posted in an Excel news group, I suggested an Excel fix.

If it doesn't help in Works, perhaps a trip to an MS Works news group would
serve you better.

unfortunately, your solution failed to work.

Generally, when entering code one use the ALT key and number pad,
in "Replace" in MSWorks the ALT codes do not work with the code
representing the square box (ALT+0143) plus a host of others.

to a word proc doc, the EOL characters
come out thus...

I don't think there is a corresponding character
rec in the map.

We'll just have to leave it as an enigma.
