A simple Excel problem - Damm annoying and stopping mr working -ALL HELP GRATEFULLY RECEIVED

I am using Excell within Office for Mac X. I am having issues with the
formatting palette. It can be opened either by instruction in the drop
down menu or by way of the 'Hot Button' on one of the toolbars. The
software is being run on a Titanium Powerbook G4.

When I open the palette it "runs" to its last OPEN location. Somehow,
this location is about 5 mm to the right hand side edge of my screen.
My problem is simple. The cursor only extends to the edge of the
screen so I have no way of dragging it back on screen. This also begs
the question, How did it locate itself there in the first place when
my cursor stops at the edge of the screen.

I have tried lots of things including de installing and re-installing
the software. Now i am even more annoyed because there must be some
files which aren't uninstalled because after re-installing it still
seems to be remembering the "Open" location of the formatting palette.

Any suggestions please

Have you ever run your TiBook with a second monitor? Various
arrangements of the two screens have been known to confuse Office.
Try this trick. (It works for me in Word, when palettes and documents
and the help jam themselves under the menu bar and otherwise become
undraggable.)

Use system preferences->displays and set the screen size to something
tiny like 800*600. That will rearrange everything to be in reach of the
new size screen. Drag the formatting palette closer to the centre of
the screen. Reset the screen resolution. Your formatting palette should
now be grabbable.

PS. I am on a one man crusade to ban the use of "issues" to mean
"difficulties". If this trick works, you have to promise not to use
"issues" in any post for at least a week. ;-)
