A space I can’t remove is being inserted after apostrophes

I received a document from a third party; it is to be edited. There is a
space after every apostrophe that I can't remove. If I retype the word it
still inserts the space after the apostrophe. ????

IIRC, that sounds like the repeat of a bug in the Italian version of Office
2003. Is the third party source from a different language?

I've seen such a problem with some Word97 docs that were opened in Word2003.
Setting "Tools > Options > Compatibility" to the preferred options for Word2003 fixed the issue.

Worth a try, maybe...
