a style for a frame?

Can settings for a frame, like its size (say width 3’’ and height auto),
borders and shading (none), vertical position relative to paragraph and
horizontal relative to margin, can they all be set in a style? If yes, how to
do this, please?

This is to simplify adding figures with their captions to a large book.
