A Word doc crashes my word!

In the last few days when I open a certain word doc. it freezes word! I don't
even have a chance to try and repair the doc.

I don't recall doing anything in specific to damage that doc, I just add and
paste stuff there and have many important data I would hate to lose.

I use Win XP; Office XP and microsoft word 2002.

This same problem I also get when opening htis doc from my network computer.
No other document on either computer gives me any problems.

Make a copy of the problem document, and try opening the copy
using the "Open and Repair" option from Word's File->Open menu.
To access the "Open and Repair" option, click on File->Open,
click on the little black downward-pointing triangle at the right
end of the Open button, and choose "Open and Repair".

attempt the recovery procedures on a copy of the original file,
just in case Something Bad happens.

This does not help. I tried this before making the copy.

The only thing which helped was saving it as HTML BEFORE opening it (when it
would freeze). I just lost some minor settings. then I was able to go in and
save it again as word.

Any one has a better idea?
