Try the following:
before typing the date click on the column, row or the cell you want to
show as Date and choose format cells
Then click date format and chose proper date format
If none there you can alter one and and save as a custom format
I've done so in 2004 and you can do it in 2008
just take one thats close and look at the formatting show in edit box.
for example there may be one that looks like mmm yyyy or mm yy
if you want to show say December 12, 2008 you would alter the above as
mmmm dd, yyyy Then save as a custom format.
then it will show up as month completely written out, day then a comma
directly beside it a space and finally the year completely given
The above is an example you can customize as needed.
After you set up the formatting as you need then entering the number
should show up as you wish.
Version: 2008
Operating System: Mac OS X 10.5 (Leopard)
Processor: intel
Instead of typing the full year,i.e. 2008, I try '08 and get an error smart button. None of the options allow this result.
