Able to move program to replacement computer?

I am considering whether or not to upgrade to Office Ultimate 2007 through
the 'ultimate steal' deal for students. (Note: This is still the retail
version, not an academic licensing.) However, my current laptop is getting up
there in years and probably only has a year or so left before it dies
completely. I was wondering if I installed this on my laptop, and said laptop
died, and then I got a new laptop-would I be able to reinstall this software
on the new laptop?

Thanks

Most likely yes. If you do purchase the Ultimate Steal Deal, DEFINITELY opt
for the CD/DVD, it will make repairs/reinstalls a lot easier.

I had previously bought and downloaded the Microsoft Ultimate Steal, but my
laptop's hard drive crashed and was replaced. I do have the CD, but had
already used up the three installs on my desktop and two laptops. You
indicated to the other poster that one could reload the software with the CD,
is this correct? If so, how does the disk and product key know that this is
just reloading into a computer that already had the download?

Thank you so much for any help!

You are allowed three CONCURRENT installs, not three in total.
Go ahead with the install. You may have to use telephone activation but that
shouldn't be a problem.

Maybe the OP needs to clarify what he/she means by "I used up my THREE
installs" then! ;-)
