Able to send e-mail in Outlook 2003 with Word 2000?

In order to synchronize Outlook on my Cingular Smartphone to Outlook on my
PC, the phone software replaced Outlook 2000 with Outlook 2003.

1. I'm unable to designate Word as the Outlook e-mail editor within Tools<
Options< Mail Format. The check box is grey.

2. Also not able to create docs within Word 2000 and send them as e-mail.
Error message reads: "Word unable to load the e-mail envelope. Possible
network or Office installation problem."

Any suggestions?
