About Timesheet Summary

Greetings,

In Chefetz & Howard's book "Managing Enterprise Projects" on page 357 it
references the Timesheet Summary view under Resources in PWA. I am not sure
why but I do not have this view option under actions in PWA. I am the
administrator for the server so I have rights for everything. Is there
something I forgot to configure or is this be a standard function that should
show up?

I believe this feature is only available if your organization is using the
Managed Time Periods feature of Project Server. Hope this helps.

We are using managed time periods. I can see the timesheet activities under
the action "View Resource Assignments". I just don't have the View Timesheet
Summary function you illustrate in the book. Please advise.

By chance, is either the Approve Timesheets for Resources permission or the
Timesheet Approval permission set to Deny for any of the Groups to which you
belong? If so, change the Deny permission to Not Allowed (neither Allow or
Deny is selected). Let us know if this helps.

Dale,

Checked the permissions in Admin for both the administrators group and
myself. I have everything set to "Allow". Saved and got all the way out of
PWA. When I logged in again I still do not have the function. Do I have to
shut down MS Project as well to get the everything updated? Is this a
standard feature of PWA?

You will probably find these permissions set to deny under the server
configuration menu. Flip them to allow to enable the group permissions.

I checked that. That's not it either. However, I did check the Menu views
under Server Configuration. There are six menu items under Resources. There
is an Order column and each has a number 1 through 6. Review Timesheet
Summary is number 5 on the list. When I go to the Resource Center the Actions
list only displays 4 menu items. Review Timesheet Resources is not there. Ok,
so I tried changing the order by moving Review Timesheet Resources to number
3. I saved the changes, got out of PWA. Come back in and the change is not
there. I tried changing the order of the four menu items that do display in
Resource Center. When I saved these changes and went back to Resource Center
the menu order was changed. The four menus I can see are !. View Enterprise
Resources in Resource Center 2. View Resource Assignments 3. Analyze
Resources in Portfolio Analyzer 4. Adjust Actuals.
So why can I not get the other two menus to display under Resources?

I made an error in my previous post. I referred to the missing menu item as
"Review Timesheet Resources". The missing menu is "Review Timesheet Summary".
Sorry about the confusion.
