"About Word" still says Service Realease 1

Ran the update 10.1.4 and checked under "About Word"
It still says "Microsoft Word X for Mac Service Release 1"
No mention of version 10.1.4 any where.

However, Entourage X reads "Version 10.1.4" plus "Microsoft Word X for Mac
Service Release 1" under "About Entourage".

Is this to be expected, and if not, what to do?

That is expected. It did the same for 10.1.2
FInder 'Get Info' says 10.1.4 if the upgrade worked.

Elliot is right. The only Office application that gives correct version
information in "About ...." is Entourage. (Don't ask me why.) For Word
and the other apps, you have to navigate to it in the Finder and do a Get
Info (Cmd>i). You can also check version numbers in Column and List views;
